What are you afraid of?
This past weekend we wrapped the St. Lucia Tourist Board’s 3rd annual Health and Wellness Retreat, and what a treat it was. There were many industry super stars that attended to either lecture or give demonstrations. The one that really moved me was Gabrielle Bernstein, one of Oprah’s favorite on Super Soul Sundays. Gabrielle Bernstein is a New York Times Best selling author, motivational speaker and life coach.
What an honour to have Gabrielle grace our island. In one of her sessions she led the group in a deep meditation where the entire audience had to shake it out. We had to shake out our fears, anger, frustrations, pain, hurt and all the deep rooted negative emotions that drive us daily. This was a very emotional and cathartic experience. There were many tears afterwards as well as laughter, calmness, relaxation and a sense of peace. I was so inspired by her words that it left me wanting more, more of her, more of her message, more of her meditation, more yearning to change my perspective on everything. I decided to purchase her book “May Cause Miracles” and start reading immediately. I am already on Day 3 and have learned so much about myself. It is a 40 Day Miracle Commitment to reprogram your thoughts from fear to love. It shows you how to recognize your fears and learn to love yourself which many of us don’t know how. It ultimately teaches us how to recognize the small miracles in our lives everyday.
It is amazing to note that many of the negative emotions we experience on any given day such as frustration, anger, resentment, envy, jealousy, hatred, rejection, anxiety, irritation, exhaution, depression, overwhelmed, helplessness and hopelessness and many more are all FEAR based. The next time you feel any one of these emotions stop and think “what am I really feeling? Why am I hating, Why am I anxious, Why am I depressed or overwhelmed or irritated?” They all stem from something you are afraid of. I counted in one day 5 different emotions that I experienced that were fear based. I am certainly not alone. Many of us don’t recognize that we fear so much in life. It holds us back and prevents so many good things from coming into our lives. Identifying your fears and ultimately releasing them is essential for your mental and physical good health.
I, along with so many others have been inspired and deeply moved by Gabrielle’s sessions this past weekend at the retreat. I am looking forward to completing my 40 day commitment and changing those fears into LOVE, so watch out world it’s on.
